Cumin seeds1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder1 teaspoon
Garam masala1 teaspoon

Ghee or oil2 tablespoon

📋 Instructions

Rinse the yellow split lentils under running water

Chop the onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, and green chili

Finely chop the cilantro leaves

In a pot, add rinsed lentils and water, then bring to a boil

Reduce heat, add turmeric powder, and simmer until lentils are soft, about 20-25 minutes

In a separate pan, heat ghee or oil over medium heat

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown

Stir in garlic, ginger, and green chili; cook for 2 minutes

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften

Pour this mixture into the cooked lentils and stir well

Add garam masala and salt to taste; simmer for 5 more minutes

Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving
