Anzac biscuits are a delicious and traditional Australian treat, originally made by wives for soldiers during World War I. These oat and coconut cookies are simple to make and have a lovely chewy texture.

Rolled oats100 g
Plain flour100 g
Desiccated coconut50 g

Brown sugar120 g
Golden syrup2 tablespoon
Baking soda1 teaspoon

Butter125 g

๐Ÿท Beverages

Water2 tablespoon

๐Ÿ”ช Preparation

Do this before you start cooking

  • Preheat oven to 160ยฐC.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter and golden syrup together in a small saucepan.
  • Mix the oats, flour, coconut, and brown sugar in a large bowl.
  • Dissolve the baking soda in water and set aside.

Pour the melted butter mixture into the dry ingredients.

Add the baking soda mixture and stir until well combined.

Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of mixture onto the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each.

Flatten the scoops slightly with the back of a spoon.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
