Do this before you start cooking
- Rinse the yellow lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Chop the onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, and green chili.
- Finely chop the coriander leaves.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker.
๐ Instructions
Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter for a few seconds.
Add chopped onions and sautรฉ until they turn golden brown.
Stir in garlic, ginger, and green chili; cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt; cook until tomatoes soften.
Add the rinsed lentils and water; stir well.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for about 3 whistles.
Once the pressure releases, open the lid and stir the dal.
Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
